Planning our escape - June 20, 2014

We should be escaping the funny farm in the morn.  If Asa's bloodwork comes back fine in morning, we have been told we can go.  Asa is doing well.  He is no longer a marionette held by wires and tubes.  We are down to just pain meds which he needs to a degree.  Today we got back final blood cultures from last Saturday's mystery trip to the local ER, the set that caused the surgeons alarm on Monday. Whatever the bug was, Asa's post surgery antibiotics covered it.  Equally mysteriously, the cultures taken here at TCH have never grown anything.

Please pray for Asa as we march past this chapter of this process.  Still some chemo to go, but this surgery was a big, miraculous deal, yet part of a larger plan. Pray for Asa's recovery at home and that he would stay well as we move to the next two and hopefully final chemo sessions. Just trying to kill off anything remaining.  Pathology initial report on tumor today shows that they think they got everything.  Protein counts in blood will confirm eventually.

Thanks for sweet visits with friends.  Grateful that we can see light at the end of this tunnel toward normalcy.  Grateful for those who bring me stories of how God is working through this outside these four crazy and poorly colored walls.  It makes the sketchy food worthwhile in the darker, selfish moments.  Thankful for my social butterfly daughter who has never met a stranger in these halls.
