Sticky decisions - June 25, 2014

No such thing as too much Nutella, but evidently Asa had had enough of sticky face and fingers. Yes, another eating picture.  And he ate through one piece of cornbread, 2 crackers, 3 oz of formula, multiple Cheerios, and he was still hungry.  Doc told me today that no matter what we feed him that his body will eat it all up just trying to make new liver.  How encouraging to know we are in uphill battle!  We made a decision today to proceed with a port versus a picc line.  Read a lot, asked a lot of questions, consulted doc some more, heard counsel from those in medical field and those who had been there, done that, and it was a unanimously advised to go with the port.  This will happen sometime next week,  coinciding with chemo #5.  Pathology report today said that removed tumor was 80% dead and that there were clear margins.  Praising God for this miracle.

Please pray for next week and our house as we enter the fray again.  It should be short-lived, but none of us relish returning there, even as much as we love our docs.  Pray that this chemo zaps anything outstanding.  Pray that our house stay well. We have one child with a cold and Asa was running possible very low grade fever tonight. Not too concerned as he was running all over den and shoveling food, but we need germs kept at bay.

Thanks today for kids holding down fort, getting things done.  Clearly grateful for today's great report from pathology and for miraculous provision (see yesterday's post).  Thankful for our sweet head oncologist who has been the epitome of grace to us.
