To clinic. To clinic. Home again. Hyper. Hyper. - July 8, 2014

I think I should have just gone to Google images and grabbed a pic of The Energizer Bunny and posted it.   Asa is still going strong.  We went to clinic this morning and after much debate, decided to postpone chemo to Thursday due to Asa's sniffles.  We are hoping that this two day time would show him improved or symptoms worsen clearly enough to warrant a clearer decision.  So instead of prepping for inpatient, we hung around with a very hungry baby for hours before our 2pm audiology appointment.  Certain types of chemo patients have to have periodic hearing screening as certain drugs affect hearing long term. Asa had his happy drugs at 2pm for hearing test and sort of slept, enough to get what we needed and to wake up and go non-stop, extremely wired ever since.  Praying he quits soon.  Our bad news is that there is some hearing loss beginning, just now affecting upper ranges in one ear at 4000mhz.  What this looks like in the future is unknown.  We just keep checking.  It's a bit frustrating, but considering the trade-off, we can make do and considering the numbers of others in our house with minor hearing losses or processing losses, Asa will happily blend right in and learn to smile and say, "I'm sorry.  I didn't hear that well.  Can you repeat, please?" Or the less appealing, "Whuuut?" or "Huh?"

Praises today that we got a post-surgery cancer protein marker count of 16.7.
Remember?  That number was originally over 52K in February.  The hopes are that it goes to zero with these final two chemos.  Please pray for wisdom on chemo on Thursday.  Pray that Asa get better with no snotty nose at all or other symptoms.  Obviously pray that hearing loss stops in its tracks.  Pray for our family as we juggle the last of this while school starts.

Thanks today for a dry ride to and from.  Thankful for our gracious oncologist who humors concerned parents and really hears us.  Grateful for caffeine to keep us awake and safe trip home.  Obviously thrilled with good numbers.  Grateful for music and happy dancing baby after port surgery yesterday.  And fish and belly laughing.  Babies don't normally laugh and jump up and down whole de-accessing their port, but them again, babies don't usually have ports, either.
