Update - March 18, 2014

Today was inflate the baby again day.  You can see by the pics.  Just part of the process.  We are discouraged that the numbers came back and the virus still lives, so Asa's chief battle is still defeat the virus.  So, once again, pray.

The next week will be a bit crazy.  The antiviral protocol has been moved to daily, so we will be in a continual inflate the baby session. Pray that the docs manage fluid well.  This makes us a bit uncomfortable. This persistent virus moves Asa into a land of alternative chemo protocol. His immune system cannot handle systemic treatments with the virus until it's gone for good.  This moves us to a new fill in the gap procedure that delivers chemo straight to the liver.  God has seen to it that the expert in this treatment recently came to this hospital and the pharmacist is learning a new procedure to deliver this new chemo.  I'll spare you the details.  Tony and I are both very comfortable with this option.  It buys time, is an effective treatment, does active good while Asa heals from the virus.  Asa is doing beautifully clinically right now.  He looks a little oinky, but he was awake today playing for an hour (not supposed to be awake fully on a vent, but Asa doesn't follow rules), his breathing is being weaned off of the vent successfully, heart rate good.  Fever still lingers.  Darn virus.

Thanks today for God reminding us continually that he is paying close attention to this process.  We needed that today.  The virus is frustrating and the docs are frustrated, too. Thanks for visitors!  Took a walk to park today.  Thanks for milk offers.  Still working on that one.

Thank you for your continued round the clock prayers.  They sustain us, give us strength to see beyond the struggle and also make decisions.  Pray for our crew at home, though they are well, we miss them and vice versa.  No one ever plans to camp at a hospital this long.
