MRI and prelim results - May 20, 2014

We do have good preliminary news on Asa.  Though nothing I say here is set in stone until all the powers that be pow-wow tomorrow, we do have info.  Asa went to MRI and CT scan this morning.  Grateful that this was uneventful and we have had zero nausea.  We were able to leave the hospital with copies of the images.  When I understand what is what, I'll post pics for you visual people.

Our early understanding is that the tumor has shrunk very significantly, more than expected.  It is not involved in the vasculature of the liver any more, though there may be some workable encroachment upon the hepatic artery.  The surgeon has seen and felt that was likely workable.  Suffice to say, barring differences of opinions amongst surgeons tomorrow, Asa will likely not go to transplant.  Praising God for His amazing work in Asa's body through this trial!  I'm not sure we will know much more until Thursday in clinic.  Perhaps we will get more info tomorrow.  We will not know until then whether we will do chemo #4 later this week.
Please continue to pray for Asa's counts.  We are still dealing with neutropenia and limited immune system, so no colds or hacking please. 😷 Cancer is going away, but yes, it's still a real threat.  Prayers please for supernatural wisdom for docs as they discuss Asa's case.  Thanks for your car seat and travel prayers this week.  The crying has been minimal.  Thanks for your prayers for our friend, Caroline.  She remains stable, her treatment working, but feeling bad with fever.

Obviously, thanks today for great results!  Don't know what God used to knock this evil out, but He did it.  Thanks for helping kids and grandparents, chefs and sous chefs. Thanks for dear hubby who has endured rush hour this week twice already and will once more. Thanks for good nurses and good conversations. And yay for no barfing!!
