Day 5 of rehab and sleepless nights - March 24, 2014

Today was MRI day and after very little sleep with a baby still coming down off meds, it started off with a bang by being finally moved up to the oncology unit at 6am.  Then we spent 5 hours with an awake, teething kiddo who was not allowed to eat before the MRI.  It was a barrel of monkeys.
MRI results showed that the tumor still has some areas that need to be further shrunk.  Yes, progress.  No, not enough to proceed yet.  So, we will move to doing non systemic chemo directly to the liver Wednesday or Thursday.  Virus counts should be in tomorrow.  We are hoping for significant improvement in those numbers as Asa clinically is very much improved.
Please pray that virus depart for good so that there might also be a chance of going home for a while.  Pray that chemo shrinks tumor in the right places with this next round.
Pleeeeease pray that Asa gets over withdrawals from intubation drugs.  I feel like I'm living with nonverbal Oscar the Grouch.  He is not himself.  Pray that as long as we are here we would continue to have great conversations with folks.
Thanks today for escaping ICU, not just to move to a real floor, but ICU was a stressful place to stay long term and the toilet was further away than the latrine at Girl Scout camp.  Never dreamed I'd be thankful to be back on an oncology unit. Thankful for great MRI team. Thanks for sweet visits, great food, even welcoming hospital food again and bathtubs.  Thanks for sweet nurses up here, not that the others weren't. Thanks for praying.
