Adenovirus is Demonic - pray for it to be gone - April 14, 2014

Today was a rough one. Asa was fine. Grouchy still coming off meds, but okay. It was rough just realizing how not on the same page our different med teams are regarding how to care for Asa's lingering virus both short and longer term, it...s effects on variations in future treatment, and how they really need to get on same page ASAP. Please pray for these teams as they pow-wow on this issue and all its spin off problems. Pray for our primary doc, Dr. Heczey, as he negotiates and makes decisions. I don't envy him. He earns his keep and needs choc chip cookies, too. Jk

Tests for kidney function and virus count today. Asa doing great in chemo recovery, looking good. Tumor amazingly hard to find on his tummy now. Had a virus treatment. We should have count numbers late tomorrow. The heavy debate is whether to or how long to continue virus treatment and what really should be protocol to keep it dormant and protect it from affecting Asa's kidneys long term. And they have some differences of opinion coming from their particular specialties and mix in a bit of ego and you might see fur raised and minor growling and hissing. Pray for all that and that we'd know when to be quiet and when to advocate. We don't relish the drama truly. And pray for sleeeeeeep and sanity and endurance and Asa not to wake up and poop at 3am because his phosphorus made him sick and that his kidneys would full recover so he doesn't even need such electrolytes.

Thanks that Tony was here today and has the mind to remember numbers like an elephant and who said what and is a firm negotiator/mediator when necessary. Thankful that it became clear that there was a communication issue between doc teams or I think they'd have spun wheels. Thanks for dear friend who came and maintained my sanity in all and took care of a kiddo. Sanity is of top priority at this point, more than you know. Thanks for great leftovers. Thanks for the gift of a primary doc who is personal, humble enough to google the answer to a question in front of us, wise, kind, level headed, yet knows when to subtly growl and raise his hackles kindly. And thanks for new attending nurse practitioner today.
