Oh my! I'm sure many of you saw the previous message about fever this morn. Oh what a ride! Asa thrilled the staff last night by pulling out his NG tube (nose feed to stomach) again. Because a lot of electrolytes and other meds are put in via that, the poor nurses had to put in another. That was uneventful until they got some crushed meds stuck in new tube. Everyone gave up until morning shift and let us sleep until Asa's temp rose, tube needed to be inserted, and attending doc discovered electrolytes still off due to missed meds, and the pharmacy decided to take far too long to get IV Tylenol, and in the lull of the chaos and lack of meds didn't like Asa's condition and called in the hospital rapid response team to assess if Asa needed to go to ICU. I wish I had had the foresight to have grabbed my phone and snapped a pic of the 20 peeps in blue plastic gowns surrounding my bed when I woke this morn. The response team was baffled, thought they were in the wrong room because they were greeted by a laughing, waving baby who had finally gotten his Tylenol. Needless to say, we are not in ICU. Asa is still running fevers that they are chalking up to surgical procedure recovery and/or tumor break down process.
So the rest of the day has been uneventful except for Tony bumping into the code red button in our room and suddenly the entire 9th floor staff was at the door and we were clueless as to why. 😊
Please pray for the fever to go away. Pray for Asa's electrolytes to regulate. Tomorrow we send in blood to check virus counts again. Praying for zero. Please pray that tumor shrink away from artery in manner needed. Pray as we deal with staff and rotational changes this week. Docs not seeing a patient case front to finish or as a textbook case only can be challenging at times. Pray for good and purposeful interactions there. Please pray for sleep and endurance on our part. This can be a long and frustrating rodeo. Slept decently last night in spite of Asa's escapades.
Thanks for sweet visitor and lunch today. Thanks for our great chemo doc and his precious fellow. Thanks for those enduring on the home front as well. Hoping my kids are completing their assignments.
Pic is of Asa watching basketball and of his lovely opinion of his very taped down NG tube.
