Yes we had chemo today. Yes pics are a bit misleading. Asa is feeling a bit nauseous this evening. We expected that, but after all we've been through, not quite sure how a normal chemo compares to our weeks of spiraling mess before. I should be able to summarize a "normal" chemo tomorrow. Maybe.
We started out chemo day with a bang with the "new this week" attending doc waltzing in and announcing the team wanted Asa to have a Foley catheter during chemo to help monitor kidneys. We tried to talk her out of it a bit, especially Tony, but they insisted. Soooo, after 2 failed attempts, they called the renal team in to do it. And they insisted up front that it was relatively painless. No comment. I refrained from posting the pics I snapped of Asa's father's face while watching the nurses' attempts.
Please pray for Asa as he endures 2 other chemo drugs tomorrow, one of which always seems to cause a lot of pain. Pray for us as we begin to transition Tony back to work. Asa is a two person job so Annalisa will return part time to help. She was such great help before and really reached out to the staff. Pray that Asa's tumor would move off of the artery as needed and that systemic chemo would knock out any possibility of rogue cancer cells in his body. Another day I will post pics of his tumor and progress thus far. Maybe tomorrow instead of barfing babe pics. Doc is talking about doing a third chemo before removing tumor to knock things out really good. Pray that virus exit the scene and stay dormant during the chemo aftermath body processes. Pray that Asa's kidneys continue to bat hard and well. Pray that we sleep and stay sane in these four walls and that with our limited brain cells left that God might use us to be kind and gracious to those around us.
Thanks today for daddy's arms to hold fussy babe. Thanks for our great chemo doc! Thanks for friends who continue to help our big crew at home selflessly. Thanks for rides and carpools and you who teach my kids still in my absence. Thanks to my parents who are having to parent again many years later. We are grateful for that provision.
